Chris Lighty Passes Away; 50 Cent Issues Statement 

   This is devastating. Vibe has confirmed that veteran manager and founder of Violator, Chris Lighty has passed away. Chris and his company helped develop the careers ofsome of the best in the game including Mariah Carey, 50 Cent, Busta Rhymes, Q-Tip, Missy Elliott, Nas, Diddy and many more.

   Jeff Robinson, who was very close to Chris also confirmed the tragic news on Twitter. Details on the reason of death are still scarce. Our prayers go out to friends and family.

   UPDATE: NY Daily news has also confirmed the death. According to Police, it is an apparent case of suicide. A gun was recovered next to his body in his apartment. He was 44 and owed about $5 million to the IRS.

   UPDATE 2: 50 Cent was currently closely working with him on some important business ventures, apart from just usual music projects. He has released the following statement:

   “I am deeply saddened by the loss of my dear friend and business partner Chris Lighty. Chris has been an important part of my business and personal growth for a decade. He was a good friend and advisor who helped me develop as an artist and businessman. My prayers are with his family. He will be greatly missed.”
